Client: CGIAR Standing Panel on Impact Assessment (SPIA)

As the freelance Communications Lead at the CGIAR Standing Panel for Impact Assessment, I produce a newsletter each month. Press Releases: Semiconductor Research

Client: Paul-Drude-Institut für Festkörperelektronik

Working together with teams of scientists at the Paul-Drude-Institute for Solid State Electronics in Berlin and the Bariloche Atomic Center in Argentina, I drafted two press releases on recent breakthrough publications. These were uploaded to the institutes’ websites and sent to science and technology journalists.

Tech Transfer Case Studies

Client: The UK Atomic Energy Authority

After gathering information from program plans, grant applications, and interviews with 15 employees of UKAEA and partner organizations, I drafted seven case studies on UKAEA-developed technologies and their potential uses outside the fusion context. These were meant to inform policy discussions around funding for fusion projects, as well as to inform the public about the UKAEA’s work. So far, two case studies have been published on the website, and the others are due to be used in a published report directed at policymakers.

I led the production of the first-ever ResearchGate Progress Report, which involved planning the report sections and layout, gathering data, and drafting text for all parts of the report. I also planned and scripted all four videos which appeared in the report.

Researcher Stories

For the Researcher Stories series, I engaged researchers from throughout the ResearchGate community with the aim of highlighting the value of the 25-million-member ResearchGate network. I was responsible for identifying interview candidates, organizing interviews, writing their stories, and posting the stories on the website.

Global Impact Report

Client: The American Society for Microbiology

For four years, I researched, planned, and drafted the annual report for the American Society for Microbiology's Global Public Health Programs Division. Creating the reports required interviewing HQ and field teams, working with M&E teams to report on results, drafting all report text, and working with a designer to establish report layout and plan presentation of infographics.

New Skills for Youth Technical Education Snapshots

I worked with the AdvanceCTE for two years to draft reports on vocational education activities in 10 U.S. states. These activities were implemented by the J.P Morgan Chase-funded New Skills for Youth Program. I reviewed program results, interviewed program directors and educators, and collated results into 10 “snapshot” reports each year.

End-of-Project Report: Leadership, Management, and Governance (LMG) Project

For six years, the USAID-funded, MSH-led Leadership, Management, and Governance (LMG) Project implemented programs that strengthened the health leadership across more than 90 countries. I drafted the “Contributions to USAID Priorities” and “Core-Funded Activities” section of the program’s final report and copyedited all other sections of the report.

Universal Health Coverage Day 2016: Making Nutrition Essential

I published this piece while working as a Communications Specialist with the Global Nutrition Report, which was then based at the International Food Policy Research Institute in Washington, DC. Six months earlier, we had published the 2016 report, which made the case for policymakers to invest in nutrition initiatives.
